There’s something fundamentally different about how the minds of obsessive collectors are wired. It’s as if the synapses between the part of the brain that makes people hoard things and whatever section of the right brain dictates taste are constantly firing back and forth. On the one hand, there’s an innate desire to keep accumulating and amassing things—but on the other, what those things are tend to be hyper-specific. It isn’t just about copping things for the sake of having new stuff, but a focused kind of craziness that we often validate through the word curation.
